The Munich Security Conference ended Sunday, with lawmakers and officials making their way back to the U.S. from Germany. But with the Senate and House out this week, things are looking grim for a speedy resolution to cover the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) budget lapse.

Department of Homeland Security employees are working without pay during the current government shutdown after Democrats refused DHS funding.

“I have looked at the polling data… the public is crying out for change," Senator Chuck Schumer said.

The Senate failed to advance a measure to fund the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday, paving the way for another partial government shutdown.
