Hernández, 28, appeared in five games for Cleveland after he was signed at the trade deadline following his release by the Tigers. The Guardians were Hernández’s third big league team this season after stints with the Phillies and Detroit.

Parker Messick can finally say that he’s a big-league pitcher! The 24-year-old made his Cleveland Guardians and MLB debut on Wednesday afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Messick is the Guardians 12th-ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline. The former second-round draft pick from the 2022 MLB Draft, Messick, has spent the last three years in the minor leagues, where he has had a cumulative 3.33 ERA in 354 innings pitched.

Keith Law of the Athletic wrote on Messick this spring: “Messick is a stout-bodied lefty with fringy stuff and a lot of deception, working with a 55 changeup and average velocity” ranking him 11th in the Guardians’ system and projecting him as a fourth starter.
