The rainbow crosswalk in downtown Orlando near the site of the deadly Pulse nightclub shooting – at the time, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history – was repainted black overnight, a day after people defiantly re-painted it in rainbow colors.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and others reacted to the removal of the rainbow crosswalk outside the Pulse nightclub, the site of a massacre in 2016.

Those include several new mural crosswalks added throughout downtown last year in hope of increasing visibility of crossings for pedestrians, as well as the Thornton Park swan-adorned crosswalk.
