The LSU women’s basketball team faced its first test of the season Thursday when it spotted Duke an early 14-point lead in Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

Duke isn't ranked, but earning a win road vs. a top-40ish squad looks good on an NCAA Tournament resume. Wins like this impact the margins when its time to decide who gets a No. 1 seed and who will be on the three and four line.

Despite returning much of its talent and bringing in some serious firepower, the squad from Durham has been unable to get its feet under it. Broadly, the team just seems to be slumping.

LSU scored 25 more points on Friday alone (113) than it allowed across both games it played in the tournament (88).
