Democratic state Representative Nicole Collier spent the night in the Texas Capitol building rather than agree to a police monitor amid a contentious partisan struggle over redistricting that is part of President Donald Trump's campaign to keep the national House of Representatives in Republican hands.

Democratic Texas state Rep. Nicole Collier refused to come to the state Capitol for two weeks. Collier was among dozens of Democrats whose walkout to Illinois, Massachusetts and New York delayed the passage of redrawn congressional maps sought by President Donald Trump.

Texas’ Democrats have returned to the state, ending their two-week-long boycott of Governor Greg Abbott’s special legislative session.
