“We have identified a rare issue affecting less than 0.5% (half a percent) of GeForce RTX 5090 / 5090D and 5070 Ti GPUs, which have one fewer ROP than specified," an Nvidia representative told Tom's Hardware Saturday. "The average graphical performance impact is 4%, with no impact on AI and Compute workloads.”

NVIDIA confirmed there is a hardware defect with some GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs and has offered guidance to affected users.

It was quite an exciting week for many gamers, as NVIDIA launched the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, alongside support for Avowed and many other goodies on GeForce NOW.

Nvidia says that a few RTX 5090 / 5090D and RTX 5070 Ti GPUs shipped with defective ROPs, telling affected users to contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
