Atmospheric rivers will continue to soak the West, including flood-weary Washington, Oregon, N California
A parade of Pacific storms, accompanied by atmospheric rivers, will continue to march into the West Coast, bringing a threat of more rain to already flooded areas of western Washington, and an increasing flood threat to Oregon and Northern California into this weekend.
Over a foot of rain has already fallen in the last few days, and more is on the way amid major flooding in Washington state.
The NWS says a series of weather systems will bring an estimated 2 to 6 inches of rain to western Washington through Wednesday. Officials say urban and small stream flooding is possible for areas with poor drainage, and saturated soils are at increased risk for landslides and debris flows.
Flooding is expected along many rivers and streams in the region, and roads are being closed by standing water.
Heavy rain across the Pacific Northwest sent rivers toward record heights, putting thousands at risk in Washington and British Columbia.
