AUSTIN, Texas - Four protesters were arrested after refusing to leave the Texas Capitol grounds Monday night. According to Texas DPS, on August 18, the Texas State Senate adjourned at 10 p.m. and all visitors were told the Texas Capitol building would be closing at 10:30 p.m.

A Fort Worth lawmaker’s sit-in on the Texas House floor picked up steam late Tuesday as fellow Democrats flocked to her side for the second night of her round-the-clock vigil after she refused to allow a state trooper to shadow her until the chamber could vote on a new congressional map.

Texas Democrats were expected to return to Texas and end their two-week walkout Monday, paving the way for Republicans to pass a redrawn congressional map.
