The Minnesota DFL's move to revoke the endorsement of Minnesota state Sen. Omar Fateh by the local Minneapolis party unit for the city's mayoral race has sparked backlash.

Fateh, a democratic socialist, won the Minneapolis DFL endorsement in July over Mayor Jacob Frey. Though his victory raised his profile in the race, it also drew dozens of challenges from his opponents over allegations of delays and miscounted votes.

Local community groups that back Fateh denounced the move and said it ignores the will of those in Minneapolis.
