Recently, Meta announced plans to lay off over 3,000 employees, due to low performance ratings.

Some Meta executives are currently trying to get some sweet bonus deals from Mark Zuckerberg and they have been largely successful in this attempt as some of them have received 200 per cent bonuses for themselves.

Executive officers at Meta can now get up to 200% of their base salary in the form of an annual performance-based payout, up from 75%.

The decision was approved on February 13, 2025 by Meta’s Compensation, Nominating, and Governance Committee (CNGC). However, the bonus will not be provided to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. And, Meta justified the increase by stating that its executive compensation was falling behind industry competitors.

Meta has increased executive bonuses to 200% of their base salary while laying off 3,600 employees, citing “low performance.” The decision, justified as an alignment with industry standards, has triggered backlash online.

After laying off 5% of its workforce, Meta executives may receive bonuses significantly higher than previous years.
