In response to a recent violent attack on a doctor, Tamil Nadu is set to enhance security in government hospitals by introducing metal detectors, bag scanners, and a tagging system for patient attendants.

Government doctors staged demonstrations across Tamil Nadu condemning the assault on a senior medical oncologist at Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital (KCSSH) and demanded safety and security measures for doctors and hospital premises.

The decision comes in response to a recent attack on Dr. Balaji, a senior oncologist at Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital (KCSSH), who was stabbed by the son of a cancer patient.

The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) have announced an indefinite strike in protest against the brutal attack on the medical oncologist by a patient's son.

In a video released on Thursday, a cheerful Dr. Balaji Jagannathan was seen taking breakfast while having a conversation with a team of doctors attending to him. He says he is keeping fine.

The strike by the members of the Indian Medical Association and Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association has not affected the medical services to the patients at the government facility, an official said.
