On Tuesday, Auburn football announced it will be claiming four new national titles: 1910 (new), 1914 1958 and 2004. Shortly after the announcement, Alabama senator and former Auburn head coach (1999-2008) Tommy Tuberville reacted to his 2004 team officially claiming the national title.
They won the national title with coach Gene Chizik and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton in 2010, then lost 14 games over the next two years. They advanced to the championship game under coach Gus Malzahn in 2013, then delivered a string of mediocrity that essentially turned the Plains into a wasteland.

Last year, international students brought more than $368 million into Alabama and almost $44 billion nationally. If Tommy Tuberville or Donald Trump shuts those foreign students out, those schools will have to find that money somewhere else.

In any event, and in my view, if doing best for Alabama is the objective, Tuberville should stay in the U.S. Senate. As America goes, Alabama goes. If America’s economy prospers (or declines), Alabama’s economy prospers (or declines).
