Guede’s trial was fast-tracked outside of the public eye. He was found guilty of the murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison. This was cut to 24 years, and then a final sentence of 16 years was applied. He only ended up serving 13 years with time off for “good behaviour”, and was released in November 2021.
