Seattle Mariners left-handed reliever Tayler Saucedo received death threats over social media following his rough outing against the host Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.

Frustrations were rising when the Phillies left two runners on base in both the fifth and sixth inning. It certainly felt like those missed opportunities were going to cost them, especially when David Robertson relieved Luzardo and gave up a home run to Eugenio Suarez. (And it was the right decision to remove Luzardo.)

Before going 2-7 on an East Coast trip, the Mariners appeared in position to possibly secure a first-round playoff bye. But that seems like a long shot now.

Tayler Saucedo revealed one of the alleged many death threats he and his girlfriend received on Instagram after he allowed five runs in the Mariners’ 11-2 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday. His girlfriend, whose Instagram story lists her as Kelsie Scott, revealed that the messages each had sports betting ties.

Trea Turner recorded four hits, including his 1,500th career hit, while Bryce Harper went deep twice to lead the Phillies past the Mariners 12-7.
