Independent MLA candidate from Rajasthan’s Tonk district Naresh Meena was arrested on Thursday, a day after he slapped a sub-divisional magistrate during polling leading to high drama action between the villagers and the police.

Nearly 24 large vehicles and 48 motorcycles were put on fire, with significant damage to several homes, forcing the administration to deploy Special Task Force (STF) units early Thursday morning to conduct search operations and restore order.

Meena’s foray into politics began in 2003 when he was elected as general secretary of Rajasthan University Students' Union. Fondly called ‘Chhota Kirodi’ by his supporters.
