The hawkins kennedy test evaluates for subacromial impingement syndrome. The test is performed by positioning the patient’s shoulder in 90° of flexion with the elbow bent to 90°, followed by internal rotation of the arm. This motion narrows the subacromial space and stresses the rotator cuff tendons. The test is considered positive when the patient reports reproduction of their pain.
