The floating seal... The Copeland Company scroll utilizes a floating seal that sits at the top of the scroll set. The floating seal creates a metal on metal seal with the muffler plate and also pushes down on the scroll set (fixed scroll onto the orbiting scroll) to allow pumping action of the compressor. During the compressor off cycle, the floating seal will break its seal with the muffler plate, and the high and low side pressures will equalize. #hvac #hvacr #scrollcompressor #hvacsystem #air
