The clearing smoke allowed the BC Wildfire Service to use the Alberta skimmer group on a number of fires in the Southeast Fire Centre, including the Akokli Creek fire (N71686). Skimmers are able to “skim” water from lakes and rivers and are capable of skimming over 3,000 litres of water in 15 seconds.
